- What is the “Unity Through Knowledge” Black College Tour?
Founded
in 1994 by Kelcey West, The “Unity Through Knowledge” HBCU Tour is an annual Easter/Spring Break experience
designed to introduce high school students to the educational objectives and opportunities of historical and predominantly
black universities.
Over 800 students have participated in our college tour program with many going
on to attend and graduate from an HBCU.
- What separates this tour from other college tours?
The “Unity
Through Knowledge” HBCU Tour is built on an honest and dedicated foundation of providing professional, organized
and memorable trips at an affordable price.
Our tours provide a college preparatory atmosphere, complete with
dormitory style housing, and opportunities for our students to explore and understand travel etiquette, self-responsibility
and money management through a non-stop itinerary.
Lastly, but most importantly, our tours are staffed with experienced
chaperones solely dedicated to chaperoning the students and providing a college preparatory experience.
- Are there any guarantees of college entry?
32nd Street Theater makes no guarantees regarding the admission or scholarship decision of any college or
university. However, the tour will provide students with the opportunity to personally introduce themselves to university
officials. We do ask all Seniors
to travel prepared with a Portfolio (including a Transcript, ACT/SAT Test Scores, 3 Letters of Recommendation, Resume and
a Sample Essay) for interviews with University Representatives.
- Who can attend the tour?
High
school students (Freshman, Sophmores, Juniors and Seniors) with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and solid citizenship track record may
attend this tour. High School students residing outside of Las Vegas may attend also (some restrictions and additional travel
cost may apply). Parents are not allowed to attend our tours, but are strongly encouraged to plan a visit with their student
to the campus of his/her choice before tuition is paid.
